What Wispr Flow actually does
Wispr Flow is a system-wide voice dictation tool for Mac. It runs quietly in the background and activates with a keyboard shortcut or by holding a key. Speak naturally and it transcribes your words into whatever app is active — email, Notion, Slack, VS Code, a browser form, anything.
The AI side of it does two things that set it apart from basic dictation:
- It removes filler words. Um, uh, and false starts get stripped automatically so the output reads cleanly without editing.
- It understands formatting commands. Say "new paragraph", "bullet point", or "comma" and Flow acts on them rather than transcribing them literally.
The practical result is that you can compose emails, write notes, or fill in forms significantly faster than typing, without the robotic output you get from older dictation tools. It is particularly good for anything conversational — Slack messages, emails, diary-style notes — and for people who find typing slow or uncomfortable.
Free vs Flow Pro — what changes

The free month gives you full Flow Pro access with no restrictions, which is the best way to decide whether the upgrade is worth it for your workflow. After the trial, Pro costs around $14.99/month (billed monthly) or approximately $9.99/month on an annual plan.
Conditions worth knowing
- The free month applies to new accounts only. Existing Wispr Flow accounts cannot claim the referral.
- Start sign-up from the referral link — there is no way to apply it retrospectively once you have created an account separately.
- Wispr Flow is primarily a Mac app. An iOS app is also available. Windows support has been on the roadmap — check the Wispr Flow website for current platform availability.
- The subscription is billed in USD. UK cards are accepted but your bank may apply a small currency conversion fee.
